Deershed Festival 2026 Build Diary — Day 3: Generator Down, Battery On, Late Finish

Day 3 at Deershed Festival 2026 — the site generator failed mid-build, the EcoFlow took over, and the team pushed late into the evening to complete Arena 2 and Arena 3.

Wednesday was a long one.

Generator Failure

Mid-morning, the site generator feeding the WiFi cabin stopped working. Mains power gone.

The EcoFlow battery station — which we carry as standard kit on event deployments — took over. It was at 89% charge when the generator went down, showing 14 hours of estimated runtime. We reduced non-essential load to extend that further and kept the critical stuff running: internet, VoIP, monitoring.

The generator was back up within the hour. Total time on battery: roughly 60 minutes. Client impact: none — the support desk stayed live throughout.

It's worth noting this isn't something we planned for specifically at Deershed — it's just how the kit is configured. Generator failure on a temporary site is a known risk, so the battery backup is always there. Wednesday was the first time we've actually needed it.

Arena 2 and Arena 3

With power restored, the build continued. The target for Wednesday was getting Arena 2 and Arena 3 complete — masts up, access points mounted and connected, links confirmed.

It was hot. Working in full sun on a dry North Yorkshire field in July is not particularly pleasant, and by the afternoon the team were moving at a measured pace rather than sprinting. Both arenas were completed by late evening — later than planned, but done.

Arena 1 and full site commissioning to follow on Thursday.
